From the sellers...
From Marissa:
Jim and I had been house hunting for over a year when I found myself on Rose Street, trying to find my way back home to Green Lake after visiting our friend Penny. I can vividly recall the moment I saw the house – I knew that I had found “the right place”. I had no idea what it looked like inside, what it would cost, or whether it was even still for sale. All I knew was that our search was at an end.
We have come to love the comfort and beauty of the home, enjoying sunrise and sunset from the tranquility of the master suite with its soaring ceilings and amazing view of the ever-changing Puget Sound. The 2 person jetted tub in the master bath, the warmth of the heated floor and the sheer beauty of the stonework has provided us with a true “spa” experience right here at home.
From Jim:
I grew up in a house under a maple tree and never forgot how much I loved the sound of the leaves rustling, the dappled shade and the sweet smell of the autumn leaves. Here was much the same experience in a location that added views of Puget Sound and the Olympics along with glorious sunset views. One thing we learned living here was that Puget Sound has a thousand different moods. Even after more than twelve years in the house we could look outside one day and say “Wow, I’ve never seen the light bouncing around the waves like that” or “ I’ve never seen the sound look steel gray on the sides and green-gray right down the middle!” To have that sort of experience while doing something normally mundane like walking from your bed to the shower is amazing.
From both:
We have convenient access to the Morgan Junction (about a 15 minute walk), the Alaska Junction (less than 2 miles away) as well as downtown and find ourselves situated between 2 bus lines that take us wherever we want to go in the city. When we crave more green space it’s just a 10 minute walk down to Lincoln Park and there we can enjoy awesome views of the water and get our exercise “fix” by doing a 5 mile loop along the waterfront and up the ridge back into the park.
We have spent countless hours gardening, delightfully interrupted by conversations with passersby and neighbors. The flow of the home is ideal for entertaining and we have both loved throwing open the French doors in the dining room and filling the house with people.
We have created a haven that is hard to leave behind. However, we have decided that it is time to start winding down our careers and to spend more time traveling beyond our West Seattle oasis. We feel lucky to have spent so many wonderful years here and are grateful to pass it on to yet another lucky family.
