We’ve loved living at Slip #7!
Finding a community of neighbors who actually spend time together and who look out for each other is hard to do in Seattle, but Mallard Cove is different. From the regular mens’ nights we have about every other month, to the July 4th party where we hire a band to play on one of our rooftops while the other rooftops host dueling parties; from our Christmas white elephant party, to our floating movie night, and even the impromptu tie-ups in the middle of our “canal,” it really feels more like a collection of fascinating friends than just a neighborhood. We were also blown away by the overall generosity of our neighbors, free with advice and with help, and their interest in making this a great, relaxed, friendly place to live.
Then there are all of the things we love about #7 in particular. The best rooftop view in the entire community – we absolutely love spending time up there, whether it is entertaining, soaking up the summer sun while reading a book, watching the boats pass by and the float planes zoom in, or taking in another spectacular sunset. We love the main living area, which is so open and full of light, and gives us a constant reminder that we are on the water, but yet the sunken den feels cozy and private at the same time. We love the upstairs office, with its views of the water, and the downstairs getaway room. And of course we love our little back deck, where we can jump on a paddleboard or into a kayak and be on the water at a moment’s notice, and where we like to spend the mornings with a cup of coffee and Hank Heron, the huge, majestic grey heron who loves to perch on our little floating dock.
We also were so pleasantly surprised at how much space, including storage, this home has.. Now that we have moved into #6 (the only reason we would move from #7), we are more keenly aware of this fact. There is quite a bit of hidden storage, including in the sunken den, not to mention the roof deck storage bins and the back deck closets. It really feels like we didn’t have to compromise in order to have the “living on the water” experience.
If you decide to buy #7, we know you are going to count it among the best decisions you’ve ever made, and we and everyone else at Mallard Cove will look forward to getting to know you.
