We have loved Alki since moving to West Seattle in 1999. It is such a unique Seattle neighborhood. Sandy beach. Olympic sunsets. Walking. Biking. Running. Skating. Paddle boarding. Hanging out. PIRATES! Shops. Restaurants. Such good living!

We converted the bottom unit to a Short Term rental last August. With only one month of “high season” and a spring impacted by COVID, the unit (lovingly named “Shady Grove”) still averaged more than $3,000 per month in rents. We have also had a number of inquiries for medium to longer term renters who are undeterred by the West Seattle Bridge closure and plan to commute by water taxi. People still want to live and rent at the beach.

We are sad to part with this wonderful property and are confident the next owners will love it like we do!

We extensively renovated and upgraded both units as we turned our long term investment dream into reality. Then, our life circumstances shifted as our parent needed a different living situation.

We bought the place (after years of searching for the right multi-family property) so that our adult parent could have a flat for retirement—one that would be subsidized by rental income. We couldn’t believe our luck—a great layout, flat ground-floor access, wonderful trees, and just a block from the beach!
